FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about using Selftone.
Using Selftone
How long should I record?
About 10 to 20 seconds at a relaxed pace. Recordings shorter than 6 seconds are too short to analyse.
Why was my recording not accepted?
Selftone checks every recording. It asks you to try again if it was too short, too quiet, too loud, too noisy, or if no speech was found. A quiet room and a normal speaking voice work best.
What counts as a listening session?
A session counts when you listen to at least 80% of a track. The daily goal is three sessions.
How do streaks work?
Record once a day to grow your streak. Streak freezes protect your streak for a day you miss.
Who can see my progress?
Only you, unless you choose otherwise. Followers see nothing, your streak only, or your streak and graphs, depending on your privacy setting.
Can I download or delete my data?
Yes. In Settings you can export your data (including your audio) or delete your account at any time.
How are my tracks chosen?
Selftone finds your three strongest notes and your quietest note, then pairs each with its complementary partner six semitones away. Those four partner notes become your four tracks, designed to balance today’s sound pattern.
Which languages are available?
English, French and Spanish.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Selftone runs in your web browser on phone, tablet or computer. You can also install it from the browser to your home screen, where it opens like an app and can send the notifications you choose.
Features
What is Ask Selftone?
An AI assistant inside the app (Google Gemini) that answers questions about your own notes, trends and practice and can do things for you, like recording, playing your tracks, starting sleep mode or changing a setting. It always asks you to confirm before sending anything to someone else. Your chat is kept for 7 days, and it is a guide for reflection, not medical advice.
Does sleep mode record me?
Sleep mode only plays a soft tone. If you turn on snore sounds, your phone listens on the device and keeps only counts and times. No audio is saved or uploaded.
Can I change the sound of today’s tracks?
Yes. Under your tracks, pick another sound style for today. Your tones stay the same, and your usual style in Settings does not change.
What are energy centres?
An optional view that groups your twelve notes into seven centres, as many traditions do, with an intention for the day. It is for reflection only.
Which notifications will I get?
Only the ones you turn on: reminders, a late-day streak nudge, and cheers from friends, each with its own switch, and never during your quiet hours.
Questions about pricing
Will I be charged when testing ends?
No. Payments are switched off. When paid plans launch we will tell you first, and nothing changes unless you choose a plan.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Sign in with Google, Apple or your email and a password, and start recording.
How does yearly billing work?
When paid plans launch, you can pay once a year instead of monthly and get 2 months free: 10 months’ price for 12 months.
Who is Symphony for?
Professionals who work with clients, such as sound, voice and wellness professionals. Its client workspace is open to everyone free while we test; Symphony becomes a paid plan when payments launch.
